The balloon prop represents each fan base of South Korean boy bands. Each boy group has a symbolic balloon color, from the basic to mix. Nowadays, new boy bands keep debuting and the colors are getting complicated and hard to determine since they are using combined colors. In live concerts, each fan group sit together, holding their symbolic balloon with a loud fant cheers for their "Oppa" and the spectators will be able to recognize which fans are great in numbers.
The Balloon cheers started from the first-generation idol group H.O.T. with white color as they called their fans "white angels". Shortly after, G.O.D. showed their sky blue, and followed by Shinhwa with orange. If the first generation of idols got the the primary colors, the second generation of idols, in order to avoid duplication, tend to mix a variety of colors. SM Entertainment officially declared that TVXQ is a pearl red, while SHINee fans use pearl aqua, and Super Junior is a pearl sapphire blue. The balloon colors are generally a fan base itself, but sometimes determined by their own respective companies.
